We Great Danes, Stellar and Venus can see stuff on the table in the garden. He makes smoke and we smell meat. He puts it in a hot box. We hear guests talking. They don’t let us out there until they have finished eating. Then the food has gone. We walk around the wood table. Guests stroke our heads. We feel happy. Venus lies under the table. I wait for more pats on my head. One guest always lets me lick his ears. I like his smell.
Cooking before the guests arrive
Me-I prepare and freeze the starter and pudding in advance. A fish/vegetable starter or cold soup, salad Nicoise with French dressing and spicy rice to accompany the meat, plus a dessert of homemade ice-cream (this time it’s almond and toasted pistachio ice cream) and fruit with a pudding (this time it’s chocolate and coffee roulade).
