How To Be A Good #Substitute Parent-or try!

They’ve gone out/gone away. We’re the replacement. How do we cope? What do we do? Do what we did with our own children? Time moves on. Fashions change. The young and fancy free become loving parents.

Respect the parent(s). Ask for a time-table, if there is one. Ask what food to give and how much. Ask if there are any behavioural problems and how they handle them. Ask what toys/games/tv they like. Ask if there are any rules.

Give the child/children smiles, hugs or kisses. Make them feel secure. Be positive not negative. Give praise when it’s due. Follow what they know. They will accept you. Their parents will thank you. All will be happy.

THEY WILL ASK YOU TO DO IT AGAIN.
