The time of year signifies various things, perhaps a special memory, a birthday or signs of the seasons. In UK I love the first white snowdrops followed by yellow aconites. Nature is healing.

Here in Cyprus, it’s carnival time. Families dress up in various outfits bought, hired or made. Many are enchanting, other costumes are weird or scary. The parade of colourful floats and healthy schoolchildren is fun. As ever the school uniforms have been “altered” by some students so skirts are hoisted high or ties are knotted low. It’s sunny but not hot enough for displays of skin so some of those in processions are in full fancy dress. A band may play Greek inspired tunes.
